Privacy Notice

Sanctuary is a screenwriting studio operated by Jeff Hilimire ("Sanctuary", "we", "us"). For the personal data described in this notice, Jeff Hilimire is the data controller — the person who decides how and why your data is processed.

• Account data — your name, email address, and Google sign-in identity. Used to create and secure your account. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
• Your content — the screenplays, notes, outlines, and character information you create. Stored solely to provide the service to you. Legal basis: performance of our contract.
• Support messages — if you contact us, we keep the conversation so we can help you. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
• Usage and technical data — basic telemetry, device and browser type, and IP address, used for security, fraud prevention, and improving the product. Legal basis: legitimate interests.

Payment data (card details, billing address, tax information) is collected and processed by Paddle as Merchant of Record when you subscribe; we do not see or store your card details.

• Service providers — hosting and database infrastructure that stores and serves the app on our behalf.
• Paddle (Merchant of Record) — for the sale of your subscription, payment processing, subscription management, tax compliance, and invoicing.
• Google — as our sign-in provider, when you choose to log in with your Google account.
• Professional advisers and authorities — legal or accounting advisers, or public authorities, where required by law.

We keep your account data and content for as long as your account is active. If you cancel or delete your account, your data is deleted or anonymised within a reasonable period, except where we must keep records to meet legal obligations (for example, tax records held by Paddle).

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise any of these rights, contact us through the support details in the app. You can export your screenplays yourself at any time from within the app.

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest, row-level access controls that keep each writer's work private to their own account, and restricted administrative access.

Sanctuary uses only essential cookies and browser storage — the ones required to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. We do not use advertising or marketing cookies. You can clear these at any time in your browser settings, though signing out will require you to sign in again.

If we change this notice, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Sanctuary after a change means you accept the updated notice.
