Terms & Conditions

Sanctuary is a screenwriting studio operated by Jeff Hilimire ("Sanctuary", "we", "us"). By creating an account or continuing to use the service, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and enter into a contract with Jeff Hilimire.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

Sanctuary provides a browser-based screenwriting studio, including a screenplay editor, planning and outlining tools, character management, reports, revision tracking, and import/export of your work. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service for the duration of your subscription.

You sign in with your Google account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.

You must not misuse the service. That includes, without limitation:

• Using the service for any unlawful purpose, fraud, or spam.
• Infringing anyone's intellectual property rights.
• Introducing malware, probing or scanning the service, or scraping it at scale.
• Reverse engineering the service, reselling or redistributing access, or circumventing technical limits.

You retain full ownership of the screenplays and other content you create in Sanctuary. You grant us a limited license to host and process that content solely to provide the service to you (storing it, displaying it, and generating the exports you request). We claim no rights over your creative work.

We retain all ownership of the service itself, including the software, documentation, and Sanctuary branding. Nothing in these terms transfers any of that to you.

Sanctuary is offered as a monthly subscription with a 30-day free trial. A payment method is required to start the trial; unless you cancel before the trial ends, your subscription renews monthly at the price shown at checkout.

Payment, billing, tax, cancellation, and refund mechanics are handled by Paddle as Merchant of Record and are governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms. You can cancel your subscription at any time from your subscription page or through Paddle; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

We work hard to keep Sanctuary fast and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free performance. The service is provided "as is" and we disclaim all implied warranties (including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose) to the fullest extent permitted by law.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these terms, fail to pay, pose a security or fraud risk, or repeatedly or seriously violate these policies. You may stop using the service and cancel at any time.

When your access ends, you remain able to export your work for a reasonable period; after that, your data may be deleted.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages (including loss of profits, data, or goodwill). Our aggregate liability is capped at the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, death, or personal injury where the law does not allow it.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, USA, and disputes will be resolved in its courts. You may not assign these terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger or acquisition. We are not responsible for delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control. If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
